USE COMMON SENSE:

• Follow manufacturer's suggestions on setting up and use of fireplace.
• Be sure that the fireplace assembly is in good structural condition so that it will not topple over causing a fire.
• Do not let children play in the area of a fireplace. They may accidentally knock over the fireplace starting a fire or being burned.
• Never leave children or pets unsupervised near the fireplace.
• Do not leave the fire unattended. There should be an adult present at all times.
• Do not burn on windy days. Sparks can travel a long distance and ignite nearby combustibles.
• Keep plenty of water (or fire extinguisher) nearby in case fire does get out of control.
• Be sure fire is totally extinguished before you leave the area.
• Build fires away from overhanging branches, dry grass, and leaves. Pile extra wood away from the fire.
• Be sure ashes are cold before disposing of them. Place them in a metal container for at least 24 hours.
• Never use flammable liquids to start or accelerate a fire.
• Do not use on wooden decks and balconies; set on non-combustible surfaces such as concrete or stone.
• Do not burn treated lumber in any fireplace.
• Do not burn trash in the fireplace, embers can be easily blown around. Be sure the screen around the fireplace is in good condition (no holes).
• Never attempt to burn aerosol cans; heated cans will explode. Flying metal from an exploding can might cause an injury Burning trash scattered by such an explosion can cause the fire to spread.
• Check local laws on burning. There may be some municipalities that forbid this type of burning.
• Do not use an outdoor fireplace indoors.
