Survivors of all ages and their supporters\, whether that be family or friends\, are welcomed to participate in any session. \nDuring the meeting\, there will be an opportunity to renew friendships\, create new connections\, and respond to questions. DESCRIPTION:The Above and Beyond Volunteer Award was established to honor individuals and groups for their priceless contributions in volunteerism and service on behalf of Camp I Am Me. This award is presented to annually at the “Friends of Camp I Am Me Recognition Reception\,” which is held in March each year. \nNominations are accepted on an ongoing basis\, but must be submitted by December 31st to be considered for the upcoming year’s Recognition Program. Submit a nomination form below. \nCriteria for Recognition \n\nDemonstrates excellence and has an honorable commitment to volunteer service.\nRole in advocating for Camp I Am Me in the local community.\nOutstanding contribution to Camp I Am Me efforts.\n\nCategories \n\nIndividual – Nominees in this category are individual volunteers who help advance the mission of Camp I Am Me.\nYouth – Nominees in this category are individual volunteers under the age of 18 who help advance the mission of Camp I Am Me.\nTeam – Nominees in this category are volunteer organizations\, agencies\, educational institutions\, government entities\, businesses\, and informal groups who help advance the mission of Camp I Am Me.\nCaper Brown Lifelong Achievement – Nominees in this category are volunteers who have demonstrated significant dedication to advancing the mission of Camp I Am Me over the course of at least 15 years.  Their voluntary contributions may have been made through an ongoing commitment to one or multiple Camp I Am Me programs\, events\, and/or services.\n\nClick here to nominate a deserving individual or group!

SUMMARY:Camp Encourage Family Camp (Utica)
DESCRIPTION:Camp I Am Me’s newest support program\, Camp Encourage\, is a special weekend camp designed for burn survivors 0-6 and their families so they can better understand and heal physically\, emotionally\, and socially after a burn injury. \nOften parents or caregivers have questions as to what to expect as their young child grows\, how to support them\, and how to help them flourish. \nCamp Encourage will be filled with fun activities like arts and crafts\, games\, waterpark fun and family free time\, along with learning sessions for parents and caregivers that will include a burn survivor family Q&A panel. \nIt’s a unique opportunity for families to continue their social and emotional healing process while also connecting with other families who share a similar experience. \nThis therapeutic camp\, held in a safe and non-judgmental environment\, will provide families with a community of support and coping skills they will be able to incorporate well beyond camp. \nLearning Session Topics Include:\nParenting a Child After a Traumatic Injury\nRehearsing Your Response\nAddressing Parental Guilt\nAdjustments After a Burn Injury \nActivities Include:\nArts & Crafts\nGames\nScavenger Hunt\nWaterpark\nFamily Free Time\nAnd more! \nCamp Encourage will take place April 23 – April 25\, 2027 at Great Wolf Lodge in Gurnee\, IL. All costs for families are covered as a result of the generous support of Camp I Am Me donors and sponsors. \nRegistration for this program will open in December 2026.

DESCRIPTION:For more than 35 years\, Camp I Am Me’s Summer Camp program has provided far more than a traditional camp. We offer a transformational experience where young burn survivors rediscover confidence\, independence\, and joy. In a world where they may often feel different\, campers arrive to find something powerful: a place where they truly belong. \nSet in a safe\, supportive\, and completely non-judgmental environment\, campers spend a week surrounded by peers who understand their journey. This shared connection helps break down emotional barriers\, allowing children to feel accepted\, understood\, and free to simply be kids again without fear of stares or questions about their scars. \nCamper Applications will be emailed/mailed to camper parents/guardians in early 2027.
