SUMMARY:Camp Encourage Family Camp (Utica)
DESCRIPTION:Camp I Am Me’s newest support program\, Camp Encourage\, is a special weekend camp designed for burn survivors 0-6 and their families so they can better understand and heal physically\, emotionally\, and socially after a burn injury. \nOften parents or caregivers have questions as to what to expect as their young child grows\, how to support them\, and how to help them flourish. \nCamp Encourage will be filled with fun activities like arts and crafts\, games\, waterpark fun and family free time\, along with learning sessions for parents and caregivers that will include a burn survivor family Q&A panel. \nIt’s a unique opportunity for families to continue their social and emotional healing process while also connecting with other families who share a similar experience. \nThis therapeutic camp\, held in a safe and non-judgmental environment\, will provide families with a community of support and coping skills they will be able to incorporate well beyond camp. \nLearning Session Topics Include:\nParenting a Child After a Traumatic Injury\nRehearsing Your Response\nAddressing Parental Guilt\nAdjustments After a Burn Injury \nActivities Include:\nArts & Crafts\nGames\nScavenger Hunt\nWaterpark\nFamily Free Time\nAnd more! \nCamp Encourage will take place April 23 – April 25\, 2027 at Great Wolf Lodge in Gurnee\, IL. All costs for families are covered as a result of the generous support of Camp I Am Me donors and sponsors. \nRegistration for this program will open in December 2026.
