Corporate Groups Help Assemble CareBoxes for Survivors

Over the past month, three different Chicago-area businesses volunteered their time to assist the IFSA and assembled kits that will be distributed to those being treated for burn injuries in hospitals across Illinois.

The IFSA’s CareBox program launched at the beginning of 2019 to provide a small bit of comfort to those going through trying times. The boxes are assembled by corporate or community groups and then distributed to hospitals that specialize in treating burn injuries. The boxes when completed, contain essential toiletry items as well as books, activity magazines, paper, crayons, pens, and blankets and will be made available to the patients and family members that are staying at the hospitals. The box assembly process makes for a great team-building activity for businesses, groups, or clubs, while also making a direct impact on those that have been affected by a burn.

(Chicago and Hoffman Estates), Lakeshore Financial Group (Chicago), and Flexco (Downers Grove) each held box building sessions at their respective locations and allowed dozens of their employees to volunteer their time to help support those going through trying times. In total, 700 CareBoxes were assembled. These kits will be distributed to at least six hospitals that have Burn Unit services.
