The Illinois Fire Safety Alliance has opened the application period for its summer camp program, for children 8-17 living with a burn-related injury. For over 30 years, Camp “I Am Me” has been made available to families at no cost, giving children and teens the opportunity to gain critical life-skills including self-confidence, independence, gaining greater self-esteem, and creating lifelong friendships in an inclusive and accessible environment.
Camp “I Am Me” will be held from June 19-25 at the YMCA Camp Duncan in Ingleside, Illinois. Campers will have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of outdoor activities as well as specialized sessions that will deal specifically with their injuries. Just some of the many activities include zip-lining, swimming, sports, crafts, high-ropes, and fishing.
Through the support of the many donors and partners of the IFSA, this signature program enables survivors from across the state and beyond to come together to for a special and unforgettable camp experience.
