Over the past couple months, Family Challenge Days have popped up on the programs calendar and across Illinois.
In April, nearly 40 family members from our burn survivor community joined us at First Ascent in Peoria for some indoor wall climbing activities! Family members were also supported by members of the Peoria Firefighters Local 50 and the Peoria Fire Department! It was a fun-filled day with tons of encouragement in central Illinois!
In May, Family Day was held at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee. Everyone in attendance not only receive admission to the park, but also a special picnic lunch in the park’s “Picnic Grove area.” The day started cloudy and cool but quickly turned into the best weather for challenging each other on the roller coasters and other rides. More than 100 of our family members joined us for a days worth of shenanigans. Thank you to those from the Chicago-area burn units who took time out of their busy day to join-in.
These programs along with all other Camp I Am Me programs continue to be made available at no cost to survivors and their family members as a result of the financial kindness of individuals, groups, fire departments, and businesses who donate to the organization. We thank everyone who assists us in helping to lift the spirits of survivors across Illinois and beyond.
