Camp I Am Me Volunteer Receives Medal of Valor

In February, the City of Highland Park hosted a recognition ceremony for their fire department members’ actions and responses in relation to the mass casualty incident in their community on Independence Day last year. One of the members of the Highland Park Fire Department is a longtime Camp I Am Me volunteer and we’d like to recognize him for his heroic actions.

Chris Gottschalk, along with several other members of the department received the Medal of Valor, which is only received by a firefighter of the department who, in the performance of duty while on a call, under hazardous conditions, in which the members is confronted with imminent personal risk, but had no prior knowledge of that risk, performs an act of conspicuous heroism which furthers the highest traditions of the fire service.

Congratulations Chris ~ We’re all very proud of you and your department.
