Summer Camp | 35th Anniversary!!!

A Life-Changing Experience for Young Burn Survivors

June 14-20, 2026

For 35 years, Camp I Am Me’s Summer Camp has provided far more than a traditional camp. We offer a transformational experience where young burn survivors rediscover confidence, independence, and joy. In a world where they may often feel different, campers arrive to find something powerful: a place where they truly belong.

Set in a safe, supportive, and completely non-judgmental environment, campers spend a week surrounded by peers who understand their journey. This shared connection helps break down emotional barriers, allowing children to feel accepted, understood, and free to simply be kids again without fear of stares or questions about their scars.

Camper Applications will be emailed to camper parents/guardians in our database in February or March of each year.
If you have a child that is Summer Camp eligible, be sure to contact the Camp I Am Me office, or request a Camper Application above, to ensure you receive the form when it is distributed.

Camp Matters
Burn injuries impact far more than physical health. They affect emotional well-being, confidence, and social development. Summer Camp is intentionally designed to support the whole child, offering meaningful benefits that extend well beyond the campfire:

  • Build self-esteem and confidence through new challenges and accomplishments
  • Develop lifelong friendships with peers who share similar experiences
  • Foster independence and resilience in a structured, encouraging environment
  • Promote emotional healing through connection, mentorship, and shared understanding

Campers participate in a wide range of traditional and adaptive activities from boating and horseback riding to high ropes courses and creative arts, all designed to encourage exploration, teamwork, and fun.

Growth, Adventure, & Belonging
But what truly sets this program apart is the balance of fun and purpose. Alongside these activities, campers benefit from specialized workshops and supportive interactions that address the unique needs of burn survivors, helping them build coping skills, confidence, and a positive self-image.

Expert Care You Can Trust
Parents can feel confident knowing their children are supported by a highly trained and compassionate team. Volunteer camp staff includes medical professionals, fire service personnel, experienced counselors, and even former campers, creating a deeply empathetic and knowledgeable support system.

With nearly a 1:1 counselor-to-camper ratio, each child receives personalized attention, ensuring both safety and meaningful engagement throughout the week.

No Cost. No Barriers. Just Opportunity
Thanks to the generosity of donors and supporters, Camp I Am Me’s Summer Camp is offered completely free of charge. Transportation, lodging, meals, and all activities are included, removing financial barriers and making this life-changing experience accessible to every eligible child.

More Than a Week. A Lasting Impact
While Summer Camp lasts just one week, its impact lasts a lifetime. Campers leave with stronger self-esteem, meaningful friendships, and a renewed sense of possibility. Many return year after year and some even come back as mentors and leaders, continuing the cycle of support for future campers.

Because at Camp I Am Me, it’s not just a program, it’s a community, a support system, and a family.
