83rd Annual Fire Prevention Week Luncheon (Woodridge)

Join hundreds of members from the fire service and beyond at the 83rd annual Fire Prevention Week Luncheon.

The Fire Prevention Week Luncheon, presented by the Northern Illinois Fire Sprinkler Advisory Board, includes gourmet lunch, networking opportunities, and a keynote presentation. The program also highlights and honors those across Illinois who have gone above and beyond in their fire safety and burn prevention efforts, as each year, Camp I Am Me receives nominations and presents awards in various categories.

The Fire Prevention Week Luncheon will take place on Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 10:00am-1:30pm. The event will be held at Bobak’s Signature Events, located at 6440 Double Eagle Drive, Woodridge, Illinois.

Keynote Presentation: OK, What’s Next?
The fire service is playing catch-up to emerging technologies such as battery-powered vehicles and energy storage systems. This quick hitting presentation will take an energetic look at these technologies affecting our fire service and built community and provide direction on how the fire service should be leading their community transition.

About the PresenterMichael O’Brian, Fire Chief | Brighton Area Fire Authority (MI)
Michael O’Brian is the Fire Chief for the Brighton Area Fire Authority (MI). The combination department is responsible for fire protection over 74 square miles with five fire stations. He is also the Managing Director for Code Concepts Group, a leading consulting company who aids communities in navigating technical projects.

Chief O’Brian serves on the Board of Directors for the International Association of Fire Chiefs as the International Director of the Fire and Life Safety Section and also served as President of the Michigan Association of Fire Chiefs from 2013-2017. Chief O’ Brian has a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Safety Administration from Eastern Michigan University, where he serves as an adjunct instructor with Fire Staff and Command.

He serves on multiple ICC technical committees, NFPA technical committees, as well as the past Chair of the Fire Code Action Committee with the ICC. Chief O’Brian is a leader in fire service preparedness on lithium ion batteries and is a passionate advocate on firefighter health and wellness throughout the country.
