Summer Camp Blog – Monday, June 19th

First full day of camp!

It was a full day of action and activities as campers participated in everything from the high ropes course, to a friendly game of soccer, to various crafts under the big tent. It was great to see many stepping out of their comfort zone to experience something they might never have done, all with others cheering them on.

We also had Canine Therapy Corps visit us with their pooches so campers could have a little one on one with a furry therapy buddy, most of whom work for carrots. Who knew?

The first sessions of horseback riding took place today at Dan Patch Stables and the resounding response was it was great!

Events: Soccer, Teams Course, Dog Therapy, High Ropes, Climbing Tower, Aqua Zone (Pool, Splash Pad, & Waterfront) and Dry Zone (Seeds of Growth, Rock Painting, Euchre, Woodworking, Tie-Dye, Beads & Bracelets, & 4-Square). After dinner campers got to play the Wheel of Wisdom, which tested their knowledge with questions in a variety of categories and across all ages. It was in a team format so you can imagine it got pretty loud with all the support from the audience of counselors and volunteers.

Meal: Breakfast: French Toast, bacon, muffins, yogurt, and cereal. Lunch: Sloppy Joes, french fries, salad. Dinner was comfort food – turkey and mashed potatoes along with a side of green beans and corn bread. Dessert was Pumpkin pie. Evening snack: Pretzel and cheese.

Weather: Temps were in the high eighties, but plenty of sunshine for water and outdoor activities.

Big Thank You’s!: Canine Therapy Corps and the 38 cabin staff volunteers that are with our campers all week long!
