$20k in College Scholarships Awarded to Summer Camp Campers

Camp I Am Me is excited to announce that four college scholarships have been awarded to their Summer Camp campers through the Phoenix Scholarship Program. This second year initiative aims to provide financial assistance to college-aged students who face significant economic barriers to post-secondary education.

Camp I Am Me is committed to providing opportunities for burn survivors, fostering self-esteem, and empowering individuals to build confidence and excel in life. The Phoenix Scholarship Program, which has been made possible through an anonymous donor, is exclusive to Summer Camp attendees who meet the program’s criteria while also aims to alleviate the burden of post-secondary educational expenses, enabling the recipients to focus on their studies and future aspirations.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be a participant in Camp I Am Me’s Summer Camp as part of the LIT (Leader-in-Training) program and be either a high school senior graduating in the given year or a current college student under the age of 25. They must also demonstrate economic barriers to post-secondary education and show commitment to personal growth and education.

Applications are completed on-site during Summer Camp, with dedicated sessions organized for scholarship application completion and the aid and guidance of LIT counselors.

As a result of the application process, four $5,000 Phoenix Scholarship awards are being provided to Camp I Am Me Campers Zoe Crooks, Otis Culpepper, Isabel Longoria, and Jayden Smith – congratulations to all!

The Phoenix Scholarship Program at Camp I Am Me is a testament to the organization’s dedication to nurturing burn survivors and supporting their educational journey. These scholarships will make a significant difference in the lives of the recipients, providing them with the financial means to pursue their dreams and shine in their academic endeavors.
