In September, the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance welcomed Chris Gantz to the 12-person Board of Directors.

Chris Gantz grew up in Northbrook and currently lives in Fox River Grove with his wife and two children. Chris started as a volunteer firefighter while attending the University of Illinois and was hired as a career firefighter/paramedic for the Skokie Fire Department shortly after graduating college. Be Alarmed! Smoke Alarm Installation Program Introduces New Corporate Partners

The Be Alarmed! Smoke Alarm Installation Program, administered cooperatively by the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance (IFSA) and the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal (OSFM) has two new corporate partners to help support the distribution of fire safety education materials and 10-year sealed battery smoke alarms to fire departments in Illinois. Beginning in April 2022, Lowe’s home improvement store and Aurora, Illinois-based First Alert became the major corporate groups to help expand the program to more fire departments in the state.

Camp I Am Me Seeking Volunteers to Make a Difference in Young Survivors’ Lives

The Illinois Fire Safety Alliance’s signature program, Camp “I Am Me,” provides a special and unforgettable one-week camp experience for children and teenagers who have experienced injuries from burns. 2022’s camp will represent the 31st year of Illinois’ camp for young burn survivors and the IFSA is looking for compassionate and enthusiastic volunteers to help during the entire week of camp – in the cabins, at the various activities, and having just as great of an experience as each of the 70 campers!
