Camp I Am Me 35 Years and Beyond!
Weather: Yes, it was another gorgeous day at camp. The sun was out, the clouds were fluffy and the sky was blue. 72 and pleasant was the forecast.
Our last day at camp started with the Rocky Run – Fun Run/Walk which just under a mile. It was an early start for sure, but plenty of campers and counselors enjoyed the quiet of the morning, and the camaraderie while moving on a course across camp.
Final day for horseback riding and final day for skill period activities.
Crafts galore under the tent after lunch. Waterfront, Splash Pad and lakefront activities including kayaks and peddle boats.
Pinewood Derby took place in the late afternoon just before dinner with cars, colored by campers taking center stage. Race was run in qualifying heats in order to determine the finalists. Prizes were given out to everyone and then those whose cars qualified for each additional heat, received an additional prize. Grand prizes were given to first, second and third place, but really, everyone was a winner.
Evening event after dinner was our annual all-camp dance. Everyone dressed up just a bit and spent some time dancing to the music played by a live DJ, laughing and enjoying the festive atmosphere. To add to the beauty of this special gathering on our last night together, a double rainbow was seen over the lake as the dance began.
If you had fireworks on your bingo card as the way to close out the week of our 35th annual Summer Camp, you were right! A fantastic fireworks presentation both surprised and delighted all the staff, counselors and campers. It went on for over twenty minutes and really was spectacular. After the fireworks show, pizza was provided for everyone before the campfires and s’mores came out.
