I Am Me Camper, Counselor Participate in International Burn Camp

Each year, the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance teams up with the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Foundation to send one Camp “I Am Me” camper and counselor to the International Burn Camp in Washington, D.C. Dozens of teen burn survivors from across the United States and Canada make the trip east for the one-week program led by professional fire fighters and paramedics who know the challenges these remarkable children face.

Applications Now Available for Camp “I Am Me” – Illinois’ Camp for Young Burn Survivors

The Illinois Fire Safety Alliance has opened the application period for its summer camp program, for children 8-17 living with a burn-related injury. For over 30 years, Camp “I Am Me” has been made available to families at no cost, giving children and teens the opportunity to gain critical life-skills including self-confidence, independence, gaining greater self-esteem, and creating lifelong friendships in an inclusive and accessible environment.

Help Fulfill 2022's Camp Needs List

In order to make Illinois' camp for young burn survivors the best possible experience for both campers and volunteers, there is a wide variety of equipment and supplies required. From fun events and activities to essentials for a medical camp and being out in the woods, there are many items that can be purchased and provided as an in-kind donation to help make a difference. All items donated to the IFSA are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

IFSA Seeking Office Volunteer to Support Fire Safety Efforts

Under the guidance of the Program Coordinator, the Program Assistant will help further the IFSA mission of burn and fire prevention by fulfilling orders and distributing critical IFSA-developed resources and materials to Illinois fire departments, hospitals, schools, organizations, and individuals. Through these efforts, the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance can make Illinois a fire-safe state by reducing fire-related incidents, injuries, and deaths.
