Roaring Good Time at Brookfield Zoo!

Brookfield Zoo was the destination for our annual Winter Gathering as families and volunteers welcomed one another with warm hugs in the Savannah Room for a dinner of burgers, hot dogs, and delicious sides, with freshly baked cookies for dessert.

Knit hats were given out to everyone and were a well-received gift as the temperature fell once the sun set.

Once everyone was full, they headed outside and meandered along the pathways throughout the zoo to take in all the beautiful light displays.  There were snowmen, and reindeer, and Santa’s sleigh, of course, mixed with candy canes, and packages, and elves, to welcome the holidays. Illuminating the darkness were also all kinds of incredible wild creature lights such as gorillas, butterflies, zebras, giraffes and flamingos just to name a few.

We even saw some animals taking in the winter scene from the safety of their enclosures.

Cold was quickly forgotten as everyone felt the warmth and magic of being together in such a lovely, snow-filled place.
