Kelly McElligott Appointed New Board President

Camp I Am Me is thrilled to introduce new Board President, Kelly McElligott.  Kelly McElligott, a dedicated leader from Loyola Medical Center, has been chosen as the President of Camp I Am Me’s Board of Directors. With immense pride, we celebrate Kelly’s long-standing commitment to our mission, her unwavering dedication to the burn survivor community, and her outstanding contributions as a volunteer, advocate, and Board Member.

With her extensive experience as a Burn Unit Social Worker in the past and her current role as the Burn Outreach Coordinator at Loyola, Kelly brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our organization. Her years of involvement with Camp I Am Me have allowed her to witness firsthand the transformative power of our programs and the impact we make on the lives of burn survivors and their families.

Under Kelly’s leadership, Camp I Am Me will soar to new heights, expanding awareness and continuing to provide crucial support, resources, and hope to burn survivors across Illinois and beyond. Her leadership will guide the organization in creating safe and non-judgmental environments where burn survivors can build self-esteem, self-confidence, and a sense of belonging.

Furthermore, under Kelly’s guidance, Camp I Am Me’s mission of promoting fire safety and burn prevention will gain even more strength, spreading awareness, educating communities, and fostering a culture of fire safety throughout the state.

As Kelly’s appointment is applauded, the organization bids a fond farewell to Chief Jim Kreher (ret.), the incredible outgoing Board President of over 11 years. His exceptional leadership and the immense contributions he made to Camp I Am Me cannot be expressed enough.

In addition to this historic appointment, Kelly McElligott’s role as Board President marks two significant milestones for Camp I Am Me. She not only becomes the first female President but also the first non-Fire Chief to hold this esteemed position. We celebrate this moment as a testament to our dedication to inclusivity and commitment to diverse leadership.

Together, let’s cheer for Kelly and embark on this exciting chapter in Camp I Am Me’s journey. With her guidance, we will continue to empower burn survivors, spread fire safety awareness, and make a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve.
