Summer Camp Blog – Wednesday, June 21st

Wednesday is Fun Fair Day!

Today is the big day and early this morning hundreds of volunteers from businesses to fire departments converged on Camp I Am Me in order to set up our Fun Fair Day program. All over the campground tents things were being set up.

Events: In the morning, activities include to the Fun Fair, there was an abbreviated amount of activities after breakfast. These included Gems & Journals, Life Boxes and Photo Journals.

Campers had the opportunity to ride on one of the many fire apparatus that participated in the parade to officially kick off the fair.

Under the big tent everyone enjoyed a BBQ lunch cooked by volunteers from the Glenview Firefighters Local 4186.

After lunch everyone made their way to the waterfront, where earlier all the tents were set up for the games and activities for the fair. Music was playing to create a festive environment. Lots of dancing, laughter, bubbles and fun as campers were able to try their hand at all kinds of games and activities. Faces were painted, photo booths snapped lots of photos, and other cool items were given out. The bags with all their prizes were overflowing. These will be sent home with each camper. For those who found themselves wanting a treat to beat the heat, a truck serving Kona Ice was also available.

Meals: Breakfast was breakfast burritos and tri-tators with cereal, yogurt, bagels and fresh fruit available every morning. Lunch was hamburgers or brats, mini corn dogs, chips and watermelon. Dinner was meatball subs, tater tots, green beans with a salad bar available at every dinner. Dessert was cupcakes. The after dinner snack was Italian ice.

Weather: A bit steamy today with a slight increase in temps. Bright sun once again made sunblock and hydration the order of the day.
